The essence of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland is highlighted in a new video released today by the region’s economic development agency, aimed at encouraging Aucklanders and the rest of New Zealand to experience the region.

Kia ora Tāmaki Makaurau is a two-minute video that captures one person’s view of how lockdown has changed their perspective on life and what they plan to do next – from continuing to support local to exploring something new.

Produced by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) during Alert Level 3 Covid-19 restrictions, the video is voiced by Manawanui Maniapoto Mills at her home in Muriwai, on Auckland’s west coast.

Twelve-year-old Maniapoto Mills also voiced ATEED’s first lockdown video, Papatūānuku (our earth mother) is breathing, which attracted global attention.

Papatūānuku (our earth mother) is breathing has generated more than one million views across social media platforms.

This includes 635,500 views, a reach of 1.9-million and shared 11,000 times on Facebook. On Instagram, the video recorded 32,000 impressions, reached 29,600 and shared 1,122 times. On YouTube it attracted 340,000 views and generated 5,300 likes.
