Timeslots for the free karting sessions, being held across Auckland in the lead-up to the ITM Auckland SuperSprint, were fully booked out within 48 hours of opening online. There is also a waiting list in case of cancellations.

ITM Auckland SuperSprint Karting is being held on Tuesday, 1 November, to get Auckland revved up for the Supercars’ return to the region.

People have registered for timeslots at either Mangere’s Formula E Indoor Raceway, Highbrook’s Extreme Indoor Karts or Henderson’s Blastacars West Auckland, to take a crack at track times set by Fabian Coulthard and David Reynolds.

There will be sausage sizzles at the tracks, to raise money for the official ITM Auckland SuperSprint charity Big Buddy.

ITM Auckland SuperSprint, at Pukekohe Park Raceway on 4 - 6 November, is the only New Zealand fixture in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

As well as the karting event, the lead-up includes the ITM Auckland SuperSprint Fan Day, on Thursday, 3 November.

The Fan Day kicks off with dozens of American classic cars on display in lower Queen St, outside the Britomart Transport Centre, from 10am.

At 11.40am, the classic cars will carry the Supercars drivers up Queen St in convoy, to Aotea Square.

From midday until 1.15pm, all Supercars drivers will be in the square, giving fans a chance to get autographs and selfies. The classic cars will be on display in the square from midday until 2pm.

There will be entertainment in Aotea Square from 11am – 2pm, including a live band and the chance to have a go at the newly released Xbox Forza Horizon 3 game.
