As New Zealand returns to life with fewer COVID-19-related restrictions and screen production is allowed to re-start, Screen Auckland has published new comprehensive guidelines for those who wish to film in Auckland public places including local parks and reserves, beaches, regional parks, roads, squares, and Council facilities.
As before the COVID-19 crisis, most filming in public places across the region requires an Auckland Council film permit issued by Screen Auckland.
While New Zealand is now at Alert Level 2, the country may in the future move between various levels. So the guidelines cover all four government alert levels and outline the conditions and requirements for shoots of every impact level outlined in Council’s Auckland Film Protocol.
They incorporate the new national ScreenSafe health and safety protocols for film production activity, outline all the documentation necessary for permit applications, and give indicative timelines for processing.
