Auckland Zoo
Kids love animals, so why not get them out of the house by taking them on a day trip to Auckland Zoo. Auckland Zoo is home to 135 different species with more than 1,400 animals, and is set in 17 hectares of lush parkland, just a short drive from Auckland’s city centre. There’s lots to see and do for the whole family, including events, keeper talks and behind-the-scenes experiences.

Brick Bay Sculpture Trail
If you want a taste of nature, art and food all in one, visit Brick Bay Sculpture Trail in Matakana. The 2km sculpture trail is set amongst native trees and green pastures, overlooking the Brick Bay Vineyard. The trail is an easy walk, taking approximately one hour. There are some stairs, so carriers are an easier alternative to prams. You’ll see contemporary and interactive sculptures by some of NZ’s leading contemporary artists. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the onsite restaurant, The Glass House Kitchen. They have a kid’s menu available from 10am to 3pm and high-chairs and baby changing facilities are available on request.

If you’re feeling out of touch with your inner rural kiwi or just looking for a day of fun with the family, Kiwi Valley Farm Park is the place for you. Situated in Henderson, the Auckland rural fun park provides an enjoyable, relaxed, country environment to explore and interact with farm animals.

Grab the bikes and cycle the Te Ara I Whiti, Pink Path, located on the old Nelson Street motorway off-ramp. The kids will love the hot-pink colour of its surface, the LED mood lighting system and the fantastic views of the Sky Tower.
